I have heard numerous accounts of what will happen in the next few years, but there are some recurring patterns that deserve scrutiny. One well known, is the presidential death cycle in which those elected in a zero year die in office before finishing their term. It is probably related to the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn every 19.8 years which Abu 'Mashar, Masha 'Allah, Ibn Ezra and others (Circa 780 AD - 1167 AD) in the medieval arabic era used to forcast societal changes. Every 240 years the conjunction shifts to a different element (inclusively, or 180 years exclusively). The small cycle is 720 years and the larger is 960 years. For the last 2 centuries the conjunctions have been in earth signs, which was when this pattern first appeared. Those who were elected in a zero year and have died in office are: William Henry Harrison (1840 - 41), Lincoln (1860 - 65), Garfield (1880 -81), McKinley (1900 - 01), Harding (1920 - 23), FDR (1940 - 45), and JFK (1960 - 63). One would expect that since a zero year election only occurs once out of 5 elections, that there would be at least 4 times as many presidential deaths in office for non zero election years. Yet, Zachary Taylor (1849 - 50) was the only president to die in office who was not elected in zero year. Some astrologers say that the cycle might have ended when Reagan narrowly escaped in 1980 because the conjunction shifted to air. However, the next conjunction will shift back into earth for the last time (until about 720 yrs later) in 2000. The 2000 election is a good test case to see what is most important in this cycle (whether the element is most important or the cycle of the changes from the elements). The next conjunction will be in 2020 in an air sign and the cycle continues in air signs exclusively for the next 180 years; possibly meaning the end of this threat to american presidents. As to the 2000 election itself, knowing of the possibility of violent death for the president, it might be interesting to look at the charts of John McCain, George Bush, Bill Bradley, and Al Gore and some others, to see who has the greatest number of indicators for violent death, and then declare the winner. (Knowing John McCains past history in the military and his brush with death at the Hanoi Hilton, it seems likely that he might have quite a few.) Not exactly the orthodox method, but it might break a tie, if one happens, using more traditional methods. I will look into it when I get the time.
The Jupiter/Saturn conjunction of 2000 will resemble the conjunction of 1940. There will be increased fear of war in the middle east. There are wars continually running around the globe in various spots, but the danger at this time is somewhat amplified in this area and will probably have President Clinton very busy intervening in this area of the world, particularly in early - mid May. At about the same time, Hillary may be leaving Washington for the senatorial campaign. But it could also signify a summit similar to the peace summit between Carter, Begin and Sadat. As to the threat of war in the middle east (around spring - summer 2000), the most likely cause at this time would come from the Palestinians losing their homeland or their leader, Arafat, as Saturn conjoins Arafat's Moon (if Arafat's birthdate is correct). The Moon symbolizes the homeland and in a leader's chart it represents the people; Saturn representing deprivation of their needs. As an interesting aside, there is a prophesy spoken by Jesus; "When the Sun grows dark, and the Moon does not give her light and the stars are falling from the sky, then you shall know that the return of the son of man is imminent". Careful readers will notice that the first 2 conditions hint at a solar eclipse, then one must look for a meteor shower during a solar eclipse. It just so happens that this is the case on Aug 11, 1999 during the most famous Perseid meteor shower (Which is coincidentally the date of the heliacial rising of Sirius - Egyptians used this to forcast the year and used it to time the flooding of the Nile). The only problem is that this configuration of planets happens every 19 years and is part of the Metonic cycle. To back this up though there is another interesting coincidence, the 4 avatar points of the zodiac (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John corresponding to Aquarius, Leo, Taurus and Scorpio) will form a grand cross with the planets Sun/Moon eclipse (Leo), Uranus (Aquarius), Jupiter/Saturn (Taurus) and Mars (Scorpio). The themes of the 4 gospels are reflected in these positions and the grand cross is known for it's cataclysmic energy and resolution. This is not to say it's the end of the world. Again, these planetary positions have happened before albeit somewhat rare taken in concert.
As for the stock market, it must reset itself (a significant correction) by the end of 2000. Jupiter and Saturn taken together represent expansion and contraction respectively and they meet in late Taurus in 2000 (the sign of the bull and of wall street). The old saying is "When Jupiter and Saturn meet, Oh what a crop of mummy wheat". This symbolizes the death of that which is old, laying the foundation (nutrition) for new growth. Those wishing to invest long term should hold off until after the end of 2000, when the agreements forged between people are in less of a state of flux, and the seed has been planted for another period of growth. - Curtis Manwaring, Jan, 3rd, 2000.
